The Good Old Days

Oh, how I long for the days of yore, when men were men, women were women, and tax was a vocation that excluded accounting.  The days before Ennron, SOX, and FIN48.  The days when a tax provision was the lowest priority of the corporate tax department.  The days when you could have a general cushion, "just in case," and you didn't need to identify what you thought you might need it for.

As one tax VP I know says, "They've just taken all the fun out of it."
